Grandparents Day 2012 at PLAS. As we honor the folks who really got Pike Liberal Arts School started back 40something years ago it becomes incumbent on us to recognize that their dream for this school is today's reality. Thank you for getting us to this point :)

No school Monday - Teacher Inservice Day.

Fall Break October 8 - 10. classes resume October 11.

See You At The Pole was an awesome experience yesterday. Our speaker did a great job challenging us to " Awaken " to our world and make a difference. The effort on the part of the students who were there was duly noted and greatly appreciated.

Long road trip and weekend for our Patriots. Escambia Academy is just outside of Atmore and a long long way from here , and our varsity cheerleaders have a competition the next day in Montgomery. Travelling mercies and a fun safe trip will be at the top of our prayer list.

Winding down Week 7 in our grading period. Schedules for 9 Weeks Tests should be out soon. We are getting close to report cards going out soon.

Come Monday , it'll be alright. Come Monday I'll be holdin' you tight. . . Of course I will have to explain Jimmy Buffet lyrics to a younger generation but some of you out there can sing the rest :)

Algebra II test tomorrow - everyone else has new material to learn.

Week 7 of the grading period begins today. Eveyone has three tests in and averages are on Edline for review. As always any questions should be forwarded to jreynolds@pikelib.com and I will respond in as prompt a manner as possible.

Wrapping up the week in terms of Algebra II. Test Tuesday and additional review of material as needed into next week. Matrices will be next :)

Geometry gets to plunge head first into proofs for the first time next week. Ought to be interesting.

Calculus has symmetry , discontinuities and other aspects of function graphing next week.

Wow did the rain come down about 4ish this morning ! God reminds us Who is in charge from time to time, lest we forget :)

Geometry and Precalculus test today , Calculus tomorrow , and Algebra II next week. We will officially be 2/3 done with this grading period as of Friday , and should have a relatively good idea what direction grades are heading in. As always feel free to send me a note at jreynolds@pikelib.com with any questions or concerns.

The Bangles had it right - Just Another Manic Monday :)

Geometry and Precalculus have the tests tomorrow - Calculus later in the week TBD. Algebra II will be next Tuesday. Hard to believe by Friday we will be 2/3 of the way through first grading period.

See You at the Pole is Wednesday September 26 , 2012 nationwide and the PLAS FCS will be organizing our own version. Details will be forthcoming soon.

The House of Ruth has always done an awesome job with victims of domestic abuse. They take old cell phones and reprogram them for these individuals so that they have contact with emergency services at all times. PLAS will be organizing a drive to collect these phones for them , so don't throw away any old phones - just send them up to my room and we will get them to those who need them most. Thank you in advance !

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

Somber day yesterday. Hopefully we will never forget what our military and first responders do for us on a daily basis. Thank you.

Algebra II is having a " review " test today. Everyone else is making steady progress towards a test either Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. I will keep you posted.

Monday, September 10, 2012

This week will be SO similar to 9/11/2001 because it fell on a Tuesday as 9/11/2012 does this time. We must never forget the sacrifices made for the freedoms we enjoy.

Tests should be graded and updates posted by this afternoon. I have a few still to finish but I am most of the way done. I appreciate your patience. Wednesday marks exactly the halfway point of the nine weeks so we should have a relatively good idea where everyone stands in terms of grading.

Friday, September 7, 2012

Fantastic Friday everyone :) Around here they surely are. The ball teams all did well by the reports I have gotten so far. Varsity goes to Lyman Ward tonight. Go Patriots !

The update you recieve by next Wednesday will have us at the halfway point of the grading period. All classes will have had two tests in plus homework and quiz grades as well. The average come from 60% tests , 20% homework and 20% quizzes. Any questions feel free to contact me @ jreynolds@pikelib.com and I will do my best to give a prompt reply.

Thursday, September 6, 2012

Travelling Thursday. Everyone seems to be headng east later today - JV and Varsity volleyball play at home vs. Evangel. Varsity football goes to Camp Hill on Friday. Go Patriots !

Homework checks and moving on in most classes. Updates should be available early next week but certainly by Wednesday. We will be exactly halfway through the grading period by then.

Wednesday, September 5, 2012

Good morning everyone :) Time to get the fun started right ?

Everyone has tests today except Calculus. Be sure to check the homework list for assignments today - some folks missed the last one that was a review assignment given on the day of the test.

Travel day tomorrow as the ball teams make up yesterday's rained out games. Friday the varsity travels to Camp Hill to play Lyman Ward. Find ways to support the Patriots !

Tuesday, September 4, 2012

Torrential Tuesday everyone - how about just a little more rain ? lol :)

Tests tomorrow in Algebra II , Geometry and Precalculus - reviews today as always. The Geometry and Precalculus tests will cover the remainder of chapter 1 , while the Algebra II test will handle the last bit of chapter 1 as well as the first four sections of chapter 2.

Updates will go out tomorrow - not a lot of change over the one from last week. I'll send an extra one out once the tests are graded. Next Wednesday's update will mark the exact halfway point for all classes. Everyone will have two tests in by then and a reasonable idea of academic progress.
